Tatton Park, a vast estate in Cheshire, features 50 acres of landscaped gardens that have been cultivated over almost 300 years. The gardens include a maze, a scenic lake, topiary, and a Winnie-the-Pooh trail for summer 2026.
Gardens and attractions
The gardens boast a magnificent Walled Kitchen Garden, the 100-year-old Japanese Garden, and the Italian Garden set in front of the mansion. The Pleasure Gardens offer archways, winding paths, and Victorian-era topiary between Charlotte’s Garden and the Tower Garden. The Maze, based on the Hampton Court design and dating back to 1700, is one of only two hedged mazes in National Trust gardens.
Other highlights include the lake with lily pads and towering trees, and the Broad Walk spanning the gardens. Visitors can picnic anywhere but must clear up waste.
Winnie-the-Pooh centenary events
Throughout summer, Tatton Park hosts events for the 100th anniversary of Winnie-the-Pooh, including the Three Cheers for Pooh! trail through the gardens. The trail features excerpts from A.A. Milne’s tales and E.H. Shepherd’s illustrations, with Pooh, Tigger, and Poohsticks Bridge. The farm also hosts a Centenary Exhibition with original books.
On August 1, author Jane Riordan, known for authorised Pooh titles, will hold storytelling sessions for children. The trail is included in the Standard Gardens Ticket; the exhibition is in the Standard Farm Ticket. The Totally Tatton Ticket covers Farm, Gardens, and Mansion, saving over 40% and valid for 12 months.
Opening times and prices
Farm admission: Tuesday to Sunday, 11am-4pm. Garden admission: daily, 10am-6pm. Tickets start from £11 for adults and £9 for children (ages 4-15) for a single attraction. Parkland vehicle entry: £10 Monday-Friday (except bank holidays), £11 Saturday-Sunday and bank holidays. Totally Tatton Ticket: £20 for adults, £12 for children. Family tickets from £38 (one adult and three children).
