Christmas at Raby is returning to Raby Castle, Park and Gardens on November 14, with two new rooms added to the route and promises of a "bigger and more magical" event. The tour through the state rooms brings the castle's past Christmases to life through period decorations and scene-setting exhibits, and first appeared last winter when the rooms were opened to visitors for the first time in more than 50 years, revealing a stunning Christmas makeover.
The castle, set in acres of deer park and award-winning gardens at Staindrop near Darlington, will also introduce Santa Paws on December 11. Described as guaranteed to have tails wagging, the new event invites dogs to meet Father Christmas in a Yuletide Yurt, complete with unique photo opportunities and a doggy treat to take home.
Tickets go on sale Friday
Tickets for Christmas at Raby start at £25, while Santa Paws costs £7.50. Both go on sale this Friday, July 31, with priority booking available to newsletter subscribers earlier in the day and general sale later. An exclusive early bird discount code, RCC10, is available for the Christmas at Raby event.
Sophie Brown, sales and events manager at the attraction, said: "Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a festive experience for the furry members of the family and our new Santa Paws event ensures that no one is left out of the Christmas celebrations at Raby. We’ve held numerous dog events here, including Bark in the Park, plus our Deer Park is a fantastic place for owners to walk their furry companions - and it’ll be wonderful to now share the festive magic with man’s best friend."
More on the festive programme
Also on the programme are children's visits to see Father Christmas, an Enchanted Forest trail in The Plotters' Forest adventure playground, a Christmas market, seasonal creative workshops and festive afternoon teas. The castle is currently running its Castle in Bloom summer event, which continues until August 31.
