Man United name 25-man squad for Rosenborg with JJ Gabriel

Manchester United youngster JJ Gabriel could make his first appearance for the first team against Rosenborg on Friday after being included in the 25-man travelling squad for the trip to Norway.

Michael Carrick has named the 15-year-old in the United squad for the second pre-season friendly of the summer. Gabriel would have been in contention for last weekend's game against Wrexham but for his later return date to training.

Gabriel trains with first team

Gabriel took part in first-team training at Carrington this week and could get minutes against Rosenborg. The Manchester Evening News reported on Monday that he was expected to travel.

Carrick has named an almost identical squad to the group that made the trip to Helsinki last weekend, as no senior players who competed at this summer's World Cup were due back at Carrington this week.

The only change to the squad has been Gabriel replacing Ethan Wheatley.

Injury updates

Benjamin Sesko has been omitted from the squad again while he recovers from a shin injury that was aggravated against Liverpool last season. Karl Darlow is also continuing his recovery from a small pre-existing issue.

United fans will get a second glimpse of Andrey Santos in a red shirt following his pre-season debut against Wrexham. The Brazilian started against the Championship club in Helsinki before being substituted at half-time when wholesale changes were made.
