The Albert Dock's annual pop-up Pride event, scheduled for Saturday, July 25, has been cancelled at the last minute after organisers admitted they "messed up."
Licence mistake forces cancellation
The team behind the event said they failed to submit the licence for the sale of alcohol in Anchor Courtyard in time, leaving them with no option but to cancel. The event was set to feature Sonic Yootha, WMNKND, and drag artist Jackie J from 12pm to 4pm, with a 360-degree central DJ booth, a mobile party bike sound system, and two pop-up bars by local spots including The One O'Clock Gun and Bar Glu.
Posting online, The Albert Dock team said: "We're gutted to tell you all, we messed up. We didn't put the licence in for the sale of alcohol in Anchor Courtyard in time. Which gave us no option but to cancel the pop up event on Saturday. We did explore other spaces on the estate but none worked for all parties. Hope you have a great Pride on Saturday and sorry to have disappointed those looking forward to it."
Thousands expected for Pride celebrations
Thousands of people are set to turn Liverpool into a sea of rainbows this weekend as it celebrates Pride. The festivities officially begin on Friday, July 24, with an opening party headlined by the Sugababes. This year’s event marks a new chapter for Pride as two of the city region’s leading LGBTQ+ organisations, Sahir and LCR Pride Foundation, join forces to deliver what they describe as a “bold, inclusive and community-first” festival following extensive community engagement in 2025.
