Kendal Calling 2026 in Lowther Park near Penrith was bigger, better, and more fun than ever, with a lineup that included Biffy Clyro, Scissor Sisters, and Two Door Cinema Club.
A Festival for Everyone
For over 20 years, thousands have flocked to Cumbria for music, art, comedy, and good times. This year's 21st edition, held under sunny skies, proved that organisers could top last year's 20th-anniversary celebrations.
From Thursday's opening sets to Sunday's fireworks, Kendal Calling offered something for everyone—teenagers, families, veterans, and pensioners—all set against the stunning Lake District backdrop.
Thursday and Friday Highlights
The Kooks headlined Thursday's main stage, joined by The Crib, Vanessa Carlton, and Vacant Weekend. Beyond the main stage, Tim Burgess DJ'd at the Tim Peaks Diner, and Rock and Roll Bingo took over the Soapbox.
Friday brought standout performances from Scissor Sisters and Ash, with Tim revealing 'Girl From Mars' finally achieved gold status 30 years after release. Two Door Cinema Club closed the main stage, while Parklands and Calling Our kept the party going until 3am.
Nighttime Magic and Camping Comfort
The Woodlands transformed after dark with tiny stages, the Craic Inn pub, and a stunning light trail featuring a huge globe. A cinema and Desert Island Disco tent offered more entertainment.
Deer Lodge camping, a first for this reviewer, provided flushing loos, hot showers, and a hassle-free experience—a true festival dream.
Saturday and Sunday Spectaculars
Saturday featured The Hunna's final festival gig, The Untold Orchestra's Beatles covers, comedy from Marcus Brigstocke, and Chai Wallahs tent acts like Karma Sheen and Omega Nebula. Gabrielle drew a huge crowd, and The Libertines preceded Biffy Clyro, whose set included fire columns, fireworks, and a flame-throwing guitarist—touted as the best headliner ever.
Sunday's chilled vibe included a hearty breakfast at Ranch 76 Smokehouse, fancy dress parade, and spectacular sets from Primal Scream and Wolf Alice, followed by the legendary closing fireworks.
Kendal Calling outshines other festivals, including Glastonbury, due to its inclusive atmosphere and wonderful people. See you in the fields in 2027!
