The iconic Harry Potter Platform 9 ¾ trolley is set to appear at the Trafford Centre in Manchester for two days, August 27 and 28, as part of a UK tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of the first film.
The fan experience will be located at the Odeon cinema and will allow visitors to take commemorative photos and immerse themselves in the Harry Potter world. All photo opportunities are free, but the experience will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so queues are expected. It will run from 10am to 10pm on both days.
Anniversary re-release and UK tour
To mark the 25th anniversary, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone will be re-released in theatres globally from August 28, featuring 12 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage debuting on the big screen for the first time. The trolley tour will also stop in Edinburgh, Cardiff, and London throughout August.
The trolley is a replica of the one featured in the film, where Harry ran through a magical brick wall at King's Cross Station to board the Hogwarts Express.
Franchise impact and expansion
The eight Harry Potter films have grossed over $7.7 billion worldwide. The franchise has expanded into theatre shows, mobile games, and rollercoasters at Universal theme parks. A Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London allows fans to see original props and costumes, visit recreated sets, and take part in interactive exhibits.
Earlier this week, it was announced that the world's largest Harry Potter shop, spanning over 21,000 sq ft across two floors, will open in London later this year. Inspired by Diagon Alley, it will feature a dragon towering over Gringotts bank, a full-sized Knight Bus, and The Leaky Cauldron pub where visitors can enjoy food and Butterbeer.
Next week, Haydock Park Racecourse will host a Harry Potter drone show with 1,200 illuminated drones recreating characters and iconic moments from the films.
