One of the longest-standing traders at Liverpool's Baltic Market, Hafla Hafla, is leaving after nearly a decade. The Baltic Market team announced the departure, stating they "can't believe" they are writing the goodbye message.
Hafla Hafla's Journey
Founded by Tim Haggis in 2015, Hafla Hafla started as a street food vendor at festivals across the UK. The name translates to "party party" in Arabic. By 2017, the brand had established itself at Baltic Market, where its halloumi fries became so popular that the stall once used half a tonne of halloumi in a single week. In 2018, Hafla Hafla opened a restaurant at 73 Lark Lane, which remains open.
Farewell from Baltic Market
The Baltic Market team expressed gratitude, saying: "It's hard to believe we're writing this. After an incredible nine years, we'll be saying goodbye to one of our longest-standing traders, Hafla Hafla." They highlighted the stall's iconic halloumi fries, kebabs, falafel, and crispy mushrooms, noting that "every dish was packed with flavour." The team added: "The Baltic won't quite be the same without them, and we're going to miss them so much."
Continued Presence on Lark Lane
Fans can still visit the Lark Lane restaurant, which serves a wider menu including small plates, sides, and open kebabs. Best-sellers include corn ribs with sriracha and harissa garlic sauce, and broccoli with baba ghanoush and hot honey. Owner Tim Haggis previously noted that the Baltic Market offered a street food menu, while the restaurant provides a more extensive dining experience that "blows away" customers.
Half-Price Kebabs as a Thank You
To thank supporters, Hafla Hafla is offering half-price kebabs for a week. The Baltic Market team encouraged customers to "come down, grab your favourite, and give them the send-off they truly deserve."
