A giant inflatable penis with a hole in it was among the bizarre items left behind at Reading Festival, as clean-up crews faced a grim task after the three-day event.
Sophie Drew, a litter picker, spent an hour helping with the clean-up operation and reported that security staff had to step in, grabbing bin bags to deal with the mess despite it not being in their job description.
Among the worst finds were a ball gag, half a pair of false teeth, soiled underwear, used tampons, used and unused condoms, nitrous oxide canisters, and bags of cocaine. More essential items included a passport, a Covid vaccine passport, and 50 iPhones.
One security worker told Berkshire Live: "You don't even want to know what I've seen. We've had soiled underwear - always women's underwear weirdly, never men's - and condoms, used and unused." Another added: "I found some false teeth, but only half because they were broken. That's probably the most random."
