Hamilton Park is preparing for a night of racing, history, and music as the Scullion LAW Lanark Silver Bell Racenight featuring GBX Anthems returns on Friday, August 21. The event is part of the venue's centenary celebrations, marking 100 years of racing on Bothwell Road throughout 2026.
Centenary Celebration with Historic Trophy
The Lanark Silver Bell Heritage Handicap will headline the seven-race card, offering £103,000 in prize money. The total prize fund for the evening stands at £210,100. The historic Lanark Silver Bell, believed to date back to 1165 when it was gifted to the people of Lanark by King William 'The Lion', is regarded as one of the oldest sporting trophies in the world.
The trophy first came to Hamilton Park in 2008, continuing its association with Lanarkshire racing after Lanark Racecourse closed in 1977. A new trophy was commissioned in 2012, and the race was elevated to Heritage Handicap status in 2022.
Rare Display and Post-Race Party
For the first time since before the pandemic, racegoers will have the opportunity to see the ancient Lanark Silver Bell in person, with the trophy on display throughout the evening. Guests can get up close and take photographs with the iconic piece of Scottish sporting history.
After the final race, DJ George Bowie will take over with GBX Anthems, promising a high-energy set to keep the party going. Racecourse managing director Ashley Moon said: "This is a particularly special year for Hamilton Park as we celebrate 100 years of racing on Bothwell Road, with the Lanark Silver Bell the perfect race to showcase our rich history."
Moon added: "Then, once the racing finishes, George Bowie will take over and bring the party to Hamilton Park, giving us the ideal way to celebrate our centenary year. We're expecting a fantastic atmosphere and can't wait to welcome racegoers on Friday, August 21."
