Flow Festival 2025: Charli XCX and Burna Boy Shine as Finnish Acts Hold Their Own

Helsinki's Flow Festival once again transformed the Suvilahti industrial power plant into a musical haven, with a nearly century-old rusting steel gas ring and two tall chimneys providing a striking backdrop. The event showcased a blend of international headliners and homegrown talent, with Finnish artists often drawing the most enthusiastic responses.

Finnish rapper Turisti opened the first evening with a ferocious performance, while Montell Fish captivated the Silver Stage with his falsetto. French duo Air delivered a dreamy synth set, and hip hop veterans Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey resurrected the golden era with Black Star. However, the night belonged to FKA Twigs, whose impeccable three-act production included emotional renditions of 'Cellophane' and other hits.

Saturday saw a sold-out crowd treated to standout performances from Finnish acts like rap duo Jore and Zpoppa, electronic pop band Ruusut, and metal band Oranssi Pazuzu. Swedish artists Veronica Maggio, Yung Lean, and Bladee also drew large crowds. Burna Boy closed the night with an energetic set, demanding audience participation, while Kneecap delivered a politically charged late-night performance.

The final day featured Fontaines DC, Sexmane, Lola Young, and Amaarae, with Charli XCX headlining. She delivered a non-stop performance of hits like '360' and 'I Love It', captivating the crowd with her high-energy stage presence. Sunday also served as family day, with free entry for children under 12.

Beyond the music, Flow Festival offers easy access to Helsinki's attractions, including a €10 ferry ride to Vallisaari island for the city's biennial arts festival. The festival returns in 2026 from 14-16 August, with early bird tickets available from 12 August.
