Coronation Street's Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) and Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) are heading for a final showdown that ends with a shooting. One sister gets a place in the Platt family, the other gets a bullet.
Jodie's sinister plans for revenge have been building since she first escaped from Graham Foster's (Andrew Scarborough) van in the Corriedale crossover. Every glare at Shona, every moment of being too eager to help with premature baby Harper, and every look at half-sister Shona's husband David (Jack P Shepherd) were telltale signs of her chilling intentions.
Childhood grudge and escalating terror
The feud harks back to the Ramsey sisters' troubled childhood, when a pregnant teenage Shona fled the family home, unable to bear living under the same roof as their volatile father Doug, leaving Jodie behind. Jodie has taken it personally, embarking on a one-woman mission to steal her sister's family.
Jodie has kept a stolen gun in the same house as teenager niece Lily (Grace Ashcroft Gardner), assaulted Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) after 'mistaking her' for thugs who showed up at the Platts' doorstep, and recently targeted a child. In an attempt to make Shona look like an unfit mother, Jodie placed a burnt cake back while Shona slept, filling the house with smoke, risked hurting baby Harper, and poured boiling water into her bath tub.
Doug's suspicions and Bethany's clash
The return of dad Doug has thrown a spanner in the works for Jodie, as he grows suspicious of her unhinged behaviour. She's resorting to tampering with his medication to make it seem like his bipolar disorder is clouding his judgment.
Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) has clashed with Jodie after sleeping with her mother's ex-boyfriend Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who Jodie was keen to get her claws into. Bethany already dislikes Jodie for keeping quiet about attacking her mother for weeks. Unknown to Bethany, Jodie has a recording of her and Kit secretly discussing how their one-night-stand was a mistake.
The party and the recording
When David reveals that Doug has swiped both the toaster and the biscuit tin, Jodie plays it down, assuring him he probably needs his meds tweaked. Shona confides in Bethany that she's worried about her own mental state as she often hears Harper crying when she isn't there.
When Jodie calls Doug's doctor and accuses him of being a danger to the family, the mental health team arrives to assess him. Shona tearfully tells him how sorry she is as Doug is led away, but he leaves her with a chilling warning to watch her back where Jodie is concerned.
Later, Bethany catches Jodie red handed, but Jodie has her own plan to keep Bethany quiet. As Jodie returns home with Shona's birthday cake, she finds Shona frantically searching the living room. Shona explains she heard the crying again, but it sounded like a recording rather than the real thing.
As David and Jodie decorate the bistro for Shona's birthday party, Lily arrives. When Lily's phone is plugged into the docking station, the room fills with the sound of Harper crying. Shona accuses Lily of recording Harper's crying to convince her she was losing her mind. Swearing she has no idea how the crying got onto her phone, an upset Lily flees the party.
The shooting at No. 8
As the family feud reaches its breaking point, accusations fly and secrets are exposed, pushing one of them to their limit. When a weapon is drawn, the situation spirals into chaos and a gunshot rings out. As the dust settles, one person lies stricken and the family is left reeling in horror. The fate of the Ramsey sisters hangs in jeopardy.
