Coronation Street star Sydney Martin has reunited with Emmerdale actress Michelle Hardwick after they joined forces for a project away from their respective ITV soaps. The two attended the premiere of their short film, Through The Eyes Of Bairns, in Leeds on Thursday evening (July 23).

Sydney Martin joined Coronation Street in the summer of 2024 as Betsy Swain, the daughter of DS Lisa Swain. Michelle Hardwick has played Vanessa Woodfield on Emmerdale since 2012.
The Short Film
The short film tackles the issue of domestic abuse. Michelle Hardwick plays the lead role of Rose, a woman with a strong moral compass who is thrown for a loop when her estranged father asks to see him on his death bed. Sydney Martin plays a younger version of Rose in flashbacks, exploring how she became estranged from her father and uncovering dark secrets about him.
Filming concluded in January. Sharing a picture from the premiere on her Instagram Story, Sydney wrote: "Leeds premier for @eyesofbairnsfilm."
When her role was announced, Sydney said: "I'll be playing a younger version of @missmichelleharwick - what a privilege! With the most loveliest team, how lucky am I!"
