Chester Racecourse to Host Halloween Fireworks Event This Weekend
Chester Racecourse Halloween Fireworks Event This Weekend

Chester Racecourse is preparing to host the Lord Mayor's Spooktacular Fireworks event on Saturday, October 31, bringing a Halloween-themed celebration with family-friendly entertainment and a fireworks display.

Halloween Activities and Fireworks

New for this year, the event will feature a 'trick or treat' station where children can knock on doors to receive sweets. As the event falls on Halloween, the racecourse will offer a family-friendly evening of carnival-themed entertainment, providing an alternative celebration. In addition to the fireworks display, there will be various Halloween activities and family-favourite rides.

The event will also include a smaller, quieter junior fireworks display for younger children, while the main display will be accompanied by a Halloween-themed spooky soundtrack.

Organisers' Comments and Ticket Options

Sam Martin, head of marketing and communications at Chester Race Company, said: "This year's Spooktacular Fireworks event promises something a little bit different to years gone by, as we're really leaning into the Halloween theme."

Martin added: "The fireworks display itself is always genuinely incredible to watch, but this year's event also offers families an alliterative evening of Halloween celebrations outside of trick or treating. We hope guests join us in dressing up and getting stuck into the spooky festivities."

Guests can choose between general admission tickets or a new VIP package. Children under five go free, and adult tickets start at £14. The VIP package includes unlimited rides from gates open until 7pm, complimentary refreshments, and exclusive trick-or-treat activities such as potion making at the witches' cauldron, monster slime making, bat cave boogie, and spooky crafts. VIP guests also have access to a private viewing area for a better view of the fireworks.

Charity Support and Partnerships

The racecourse will also make full use of its on-site restaurants and enclosures, offering premium hospitality ticket options with food and drink at 1539 Restaurant, the Roof Terrace, The White Horse, and the Pavilion.

The event raised £35k for local charities, and the racecourse will work in partnership with Storyhouse again. The Lord Mayor has also selected Paws Angels, Tomorrow's Women, and KidsBank Chester. Last year, Chester Race Company's nominated charity was Storyhouse, which received £10,000 from the fireworks event. That contribution has helped fund community arts programmes, including the Creative Communities Team, which supports young people in developing skills and work experience.

Tickets are available to purchase on the Chester Racecourse website.
