Model Veronika Vovk, 21, says she is too hot to find love because shallow men only pursue her for her looks, while bashful bachelors are too shy to ask her out. The Ukrainian-born model, who fled Kyiv in 2022 and now lives in Antwerp, Belgium, says her hectic schedule of shoots in Capri, Mykonos and Belgium leaves little time for meeting her ideal partner 'in the wild'.
Dating struggles for the model
Veronika, who is currently working on a Guess campaign, said: "I find it hard to date. Men only see me as a model and not as a person, it's definitely been a barrier for me finding my ideal boyfriend."
She added: "I don't want someone to date me just because it's some sort of alpha male status symbol to bag a model. They're the sort of guys who are brave enough to approach me and ask me out, but that's not the kind of guy I'm looking for."
Veronika said she is looking for a "good guy who's attentive, kind, independent and takes me on fun dates", but admitted that "this kind of bloke is too shy to shoot their shot and ask me out". She also noted that she avoids dating apps, preferring to meet people in person organically, and that working on set makes it hard to find a boyfriend.
Balancing career and war at home
The model said it feels surreal pursuing her dream career while her home country faces war. "You can be standing on a beautiful set, working with a luxury brand or travelling somewhere incredibly beautiful, while knowing that people you love are living through a war back home," she said.
Veronika admitted she sometimes feels guilty about pursuing her career, especially after losing people close to her. "There are moments when it feels strange to be travelling, working and living the life I once dreamed about while people my age are fighting and dying," she said.
Despite the challenges, she said: "The war changed the direction of my life, but I don't want it to define the limits of my life. I want to keep moving forward, build an international career and show that even after everything Ukraine has been through, its young people still have dreams - and we are determined to make them happen."
