Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance at Paris Fashion Week this weekend, attending Balenciaga's Spring/Summer 2026 womenswear show. The Duchess of Sussex, dressed in an all-white ensemble, was in Europe for the first time in three years, without Prince Harry.
During the event, Meghan greeted Balenciaga's newly appointed creative director, Pier Paolo Piccioli. As she leaned in for an air kiss, she accidentally hit her nose on his sunglasses. The awkward moment was captured by cameras, but Piccioli laughed it off and pulled her in for a photo.
Body language expert Judi James analyzed the encounter, saying Piccioli created the 'cringe' moment by getting too close and failing to read Meghan's non-verbal cues. 'He also kept his shades on, which wouldn't have helped, and tried to take control of Meghan by turning her to face the cameras,' James told The Mirror. 'She swiftly regained control herself, putting her arm out to steer him.'
Meghan also reunited with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour at the show. James described their greeting as 'much more like a top-drawer fashionista ritual,' with Meghan's 'rounded cheeks and her small gasp of fond recognition' suggesting a friendly rapport, despite past reports of a feud.
The rumored rift dates back to 2019, when Meghan guest-edited an issue of British Vogue. Sources claimed she made demands for control over the photographer, writer, final edit, photos, cover lines, and wanted a global issue—conditions that were reportedly rejected.
