A fashion show that played a pivotal role in the romance between Prince William and Kate Middleton has inspired a designer who once graced its catwalk. Holly Redmond Harvey, who modeled in and later directed the St Andrews University charity event, now aspires to dress the Princess of Wales in her tartan creations.
The Show That Sparked a Royal Romance
On March 27, 2002, a young Kate Middleton walked the runway at the St Andrews charity fashion show, prompting Prince William to exclaim, 'Wow! Kate's hot!' At the after-party, the then-19-year-old prince lavished her with compliments, marking the beginning of their enduring relationship.
Holly Redmond Harvey's Connection
Harvey, now 40, participated in the show as a model in 2005 and later served as artistic director for three years. During her time at St Andrews, she met Prince William and attended parties at the Strathtyrum Estate, where William and Kate lived from September 2003 to May 2005.
'I was introduced to Will through my academic father and his group of friends. He was so super chilled and really kind – just like any other person,' Harvey recalled.
From Aboyne to Mayfair
Raised in the Aberdeenshire village of Aboyne, Harvey now runs her label, Redmond Harvey Clothing, from Mayfair, London. Specializing in tartan designs, she debuted her collection at the Dressed to Kilt event in New York last month, with models including A Place In The Sun's Danni Menzies.
'I know Kate loves tartan. If I could dress her, or she could wear one of my creations, that would be an absolute dream,' Harvey added.
