Bunsik, the Korean-inspired street food brand, has reopened its Piccadilly Gardens restaurant after a month-long closure, unveiling a fresh new look. The doors opened on Friday (August 7) to queues stretching out the door as customers rushed to see the revamped space.
New Look and Celebrations
The restaurant, which first opened in July 2023, closed at the end of June for what was described as a 'major glow up'. The venue is known for its Korean fried chicken, tteokbokki, and corn dogs, with its cheese flavours celebrated for their generous cheese pull.
To mark the reopening, Bunsik is offering five days of deals. On Friday, 100 free corn dogs were given out, with 50% off all corn dogs throughout the day. The same offer continues today (August 8).
Upcoming Deals
On Sunday (August 9), there will be 50% off tteokbokki, spicy rice cakes available in a range of flavours. Monday (August 10) brings 50% off Korean fried chicken, and the celebrations conclude on Tuesday (August 11) with 50% off Cupbap, a rice bowl typically served with fried chicken, vegetables, and sauce, with vegetarian and vegan options available.
The revamped 2,000 sq ft restaurant features a bright yellow aesthetic with nods to the vibrant street food markets of Seoul. Since its Manchester debut, Bunsik has expanded, opening a second Greater Manchester location at the Trafford Centre in May, which also saw large queues on its opening day.
Expansion and Vision
Bunsik was founded by Jae Cho, with the first store opening near London's Leicester Square in 2021. There are now 13 Bunsik sites across the UK. "The corn dog introduced many people to Bunsik, but the vision has always been bigger than one product," said founder Jae. "The goal is to share the creativity and culture of Korean street food and create a place where people can discover something new every time they visit. We are excited to unveil the new look of our Manchester Piccadilly restaurant, which was our first home in this great city."
