Bianca Censori risks wardrobe malfunction in daring Yeezy show outfit
Bianca Censori risks wardrobe malfunction at Yeezy show

Bianca Censori turned heads at Kanye West's Yeezy Season 01 presentation in Los Angeles on Wednesday, wearing a skintight ensemble with a zip undone almost to her crotch. The daring neckline left little to the imagination, with the 31-year-old Australian architect seemingly one enthusiastic movement away from a wardrobe malfunction.

The event marked Kanye West's first fashion show in four years, following the collapse of his Yeezy empire after Adidas severed ties in 2022. The 49-year-old rapper hoped to put his clothing brand back in the spotlight, but his wife ensured the spotlight stayed on her.

Family attendance and bold fashion choices

Censori, who has spent the better part of four years demonstrating that clothing is more of a suggestion than a necessity, attended alongside her 13-year-old stepdaughter North West. By Censori's standards, the outfit was practically business casual, especially given she once attended the Grammys wearing a completely transparent dress.

North opted for a considerably more relaxed look, sporting an oversized black T-shirt dress and her signature electric blue hair. The teenager, who has increasingly established herself as a fashion fixture in her own right, was pictured arriving alongside her stepmother for the event.

Runway format and celebrity guests

Also in attendance were Kanye's three younger children with ex-wife Kim Kardashian: Saint, 10, Chicago, eight, and Psalm, seven. The family outing marked a significant moment for Kanye, whose once enormously successful fashion empire suffered a dramatic collapse in 2022 following a series of antisemitic remarks and other controversies.

Rather than sending models down a traditional runway, Kanye had them walk in circles around a large white mound, showcasing a collection dominated by minimalist silhouettes and monochromatic designs. Among those modelling the new pieces was rapper Nettspend, while the soundtrack reportedly featured several unreleased Kanye songs.

Rebuilding after controversy

The guest list included a number of familiar faces from the music and fashion industries, including Kid Cudi, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Jerry Lorenzo and A$AP Nast. It was quite the gathering for a designer whose last runway presentation became infamously controversial.

Back in October 2022, Kanye staged his Yeezy Season 9 show in Paris, where he appeared wearing a T-shirt bearing the slogan 'White Lives Matter'. The phrase, widely associated with white supremacist rhetoric, prompted widespread condemnation, with Kanye subsequently attracting further outrage over a string of antisemitic statements.

In January, Kanye published a full-page advertisement in The Wall Street Journal titled 'To Those I've Hurt', apologising for his antisemitic remarks and discussing his struggles with bipolar disorder. But Adidas had already terminated its lucrative partnership with the rapper later that month, describing his comments and actions as 'unacceptable, hateful and dangerous'.

Gap had also ended its partnership with Kanye in September 2022, leaving the future of his fashion ambitions looking increasingly uncertain. Four years later, however, the musician appears determined to rebuild the brand, with reports earlier this year suggesting Yeezy was preparing to expand its footwear offerings through JD Sports.
