A man who picked up a suit for just £8 from a charity shop was astonished to discover it was a Christian Dior garment, worth up to £3,000 new. The bargain hunter, who shared his story on Reddit, said he found the grey suit at a Goodwill store and tried it on, only to realise it was a 100% pure virgin wool Christian Dior suit.
He wrote: 'Maybe my greatest find of all time. One of the employees took it to the back to tell the manager someone shouldn't have put this out, then gave it back to me to buy.' The suit, which originally retails for between £1,000 and £3,000, cost him just $9.99 (around £8) with a 10% discount.
Commenters on Reddit offered advice on tailoring and noted the suit's history. One user explained that Dior licensed its name for menswear from the 1970s to the 1990s, and this particular suit was likely made by Hart Schaffner Marx. Another user praised the fit, saying: 'This suit looks amazing on you! It fits you like a glove.'
The man, whose mother is a seamstress, plans to have the suit altered. The story has since led to a modelling contract, proving that one man's charity shop find can indeed be another's treasure.
