Netflix has released a new documentary titled 'One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5', offering fans an insider look at the final season of the hit series. The documentary became available globally on January 12, with UK and Irish viewers able to stream it from 8am GMT.
The announcement of the documentary came as a surprise to many, arriving shortly after the conclusion of the show's fifth and final season. The series, which has been a cultural phenomenon for nearly a decade, ended its run with season five released in three volumes across November, December, and January.
The official synopsis for the documentary reads: 'A decade after rewiring pop culture, Stranger Things returns for its final chapter. One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things Season 5 is a sweeping behind-the-scenes chronicle that follows the cast, creators, and crew as they bring the final season to life—and say goodbye to the show that changed them forever.'
A trailer for the programme shows emotional moments, including cast members crying as they read the final script. Series creators Matt and Ross Duffer reflected on the conclusion, saying: 'Writing the last lines that these characters would ever say... it was really hard to do. I mean, I remember more than anything just writing, 'End series'. Writing those two words having the biggest impact.'
While the documentary marks the end of the main series, fans can look forward to spin-offs. An animated series, 'Stranger Things: Tales from '85', is set to release this year, expanding the universe with new monsters and mysteries. Additionally, a stage play prequel, 'Stranger Things: The First Shadow', explores the origin of villain Henry Creel, with a making-of documentary also available on Netflix.
