Melania Trump Enters the Film Industry with Muse Films

Former First Lady Melania Trump has announced the creation of her own production company, Muse Films, marking a significant new venture into the world of media. The revelation came on Friday, just as a highly publicised and controversial $40 million documentary about her life, licensed by Amazon, is preparing for its global debut.

Mrs Trump made the announcement directly to her followers on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. Her post read: "PRESENTING: MUSE FILMS My new production company. MELANIA, the film, exclusively in theaters worldwide on January 30th, 2026." Accompanying the text was a sleek, ten-second promotional clip featuring the company's distinctive black and silver 'M' logo, set against an epic musical score.

A Behind-the-Scenes Look at a Political Life

The forthcoming film, titled simply Melania, promises viewers an intimate, behind-the-scenes perspective on the period surrounding her husband Donald Trump's second inauguration. According to industry reports from Puck News, the substantial $40 million deal with Amazon not only covers the documentary feature but also includes a follow-up docuseries of two to three episodes. This series will reportedly focus on Mrs Trump's life as she divides her time between residences in New York, Florida, and Washington, D.C.

While the exact role of her newly formed Muse Films in the production remains unclear, Melania Trump is confirmed to be serving as an executive producer. In a January interview with Fox & Friends co-host Ainsley Earhardt, she explained her motivation, stating, "I had an idea to make a movie, about my life. My life is incredible. It’s incredibly busy, and I told my agent, you know, ‘I have this idea, so please, you know, go out and make a deal for me.’"

Controversy and Access in the Spotlight

The project is not without its controversies. The documentary will be directed by Brett Ratner, a filmmaker who stepped back from Hollywood in 2018 after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct during the #MeToo movement. Ratner has consistently denied these allegations.

Filming for the documentary commenced in December 2024, shortly after Donald Trump's electoral victory. Although Melania Trump is known for maintaining a guarded privacy, the film is marketed as offering unprecedented access. However, reports suggest that appearances by President Trump and their son, Barron, will be brief, leading to questions about the true depth of the access granted, especially given the similarly guarded nature of her previous memoir.

The lucrative agreement with Amazon was finalised just before President Trump's inauguration, an event attended by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sanchez. Around that same time, Amazon publicly committed to a $1 million donation to the president's inaugural fund.

The documentary Melania is scheduled for an exclusive theatrical release on 30 January 2026. A date for when it will become available for streaming on Amazon's platform has not yet been announced.
