Season 3 of America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders has landed on Netflix, revealing the emotional departure of one of the squad's most beloved members, Reece Weaver. The new season, released on June 16, follows the 2025/26 cohort through auditions and the NFL season.
Reece Weaver's Journey
Reece Weaver, a fan favorite since her rookie season in the first season of the Netflix documentary, struggled to balance her skyrocketing fame and influencing career with the intensive dance schedule. She also yearned to return to Alabama with her husband, Will, after they relocated to Texas for her dancing career.
The Injury That Changed Everything
A devastating sprain at the peak of the season accelerated her retirement plans. In the season finale, she announced she would hang up her uniform after three seasons. Speaking to DCC director Kelli Finglass and head choreographer Judy Trammell, Reece said through tears: "This is a hard day. But I think I'm going to move on to a new chapter. I'm really excited about it, but it's been hard to make that decision."
She added: "My cup is filled to the brim and if my absence gives another girl an opportunity for her cup to be filled then I consider that the greatest honour like leaving and moving forward."
Fan Speculation
Fans had long speculated about Reece's departure as no formal announcement was made before the show. One fan noted: "She’s been rlly off grid and posting less and less about DCC. It’s too bad if she is i would have loved to see her as point some day." Another commented: "Not posting a lot about DCC life is usually a sign but not always. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if she retired. Season two made it seem like she lost the love for it."
