Strictly's Craig Revel Horwood Vows to Stay: 'I'll Be Dragged Out Kicking and Screaming'
Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood confirms future on BBC show

Long-serving Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has made a definitive statement about his future on the hit BBC ballroom show, declaring he intends to stay put after 21 years.

‘My Lovely Little Saturday Job’

Appearing on BBC Breakfast on Thursday, 18 December 2025, Horwood was asked directly by host Charlie Stayt if he would be continuing his role. "No darling," he quipped, before clarifying: "I will be dragged out kicking and screaming from that position."

He elaborated, describing his judging seat as "the best front seat in the world" to spectacular dancing. "It's my lovely little Saturday job that I would miss," Horwood said, comparing it fondly to a paper round for the joy and community it brings.

Addressing a ‘Super Sad’ Exit and a Global Legacy

The conversation turned to the impending departure of the show's iconic hosts, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who announced their exit earlier this year. Horwood admitted to feeling "very super sad" about their leave, having worked with Tess Daly since the show's inception in 2004.

He praised Strictly's unparalleled success, noting its format has been sold to 63 countries worldwide and it holds a Guinness World Record. "It's won the hearts and minds of not only this nation, but every other nation around the world," he stated, attributing its appeal to dance's universal power to unite communities.

Final Showdown and Host Speculation

When pressed on who might replace the outgoing hosts, Horwood insisted he had "no clue darling." His focus remains on the imminent Strictly Come Dancing final on Saturday, 20 December, where celebrities Karen Carney, George Clarke, and Amber Davies will compete for the Glitterball Trophy.

The final will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 7pm, capping another record-breaking series for the entertainment juggernaut.
