Pitbull Seeks Bald Cap Counters for World Record at BST

Latin hip hop star Pitbull and London's British Summer Time (BST) festival are appealing for volunteers to count bald caps in the crowd. The musician has put out the appeal with an aim to break a world record at his Hyde Park performance on Friday, July 10, for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps.

A joint Instagram post from the festival and the singer, 45, whose real name is Armando Perez, read: “In case you missed it, we’re going for a Guinness World Records title with Mr Worldwide, @pitbull and we need a squad of legendary volunteers to help make it official. Your mission (should you choose to accept it), count the shiny-headed Bald-es in the crowd and help us make history.”

The festival says non-ticket holders are able to sign up, along with those who already have a ticket, adding it needs “legends who can count” and that volunteers will be able to stay and watch the show. Volunteers can sign up via a link on the BST website.

The plan for the world record attempt came after BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James texted the singer with the idea. Pitbull appeared to have replied to his text and said that he would have a member of his team reach out.

In recent years a trend has started at Pitbull’s concerts which has seen fans dress up as him, sporting suits, aviator glasses and a bald cap. The trend has gone viral, with videos of audience-packed arenas full of bald-cap wearing fans singing his songs back at him.

The rapper is among a number of artists that will perform at the London festival this summer along with Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi, US band Maroon 5 and folk pop group Mumford And Sons.

Elsewhere, Pitbull and Lil Jon have reunited for new single SATALANAAA after the track was unexpectedly created during a joint birthday celebration on a private island. The longtime collaborators, whose birthdays fall just days apart, turned a laid-back getaway into an impromptu studio session, resulting in a high-energy anthem built for dancefloors and festival crowds.

Speaking about the single, which dropped on June 5, Pitbull shared: “It’s been an honor to join the stage again with Lil Jon. The I’m Back tour has been our best tour yet. We’ve been performing Jumpin and Damn I love Miami but can’t wait to show the world Satalanaa. Get ready to get lit, get off the chain, off the rip and have a great time all around the world, Dale!”

Lil Jon added: “We made this song during a family birthday trip, and the energy was so crazy it became the perfect soundtrack for the moment. To us, Satalanaa means letting loose, turning up, getting wild, celebrating life, and creating unforgettable memories. That’s Satalanaaa!”
