Madonna Opens Up in World Exclusive Graham Norton Interview for BBC
Madonna Graham Norton World Exclusive BBC Interview

A new television programme will see legendary pop icon Madonna discuss her extraordinary life and career in a world exclusive interview with Graham Norton. The BBC has confirmed that the intimate, in-depth conversation was recorded at Koko in Camden, north London, the very venue that hosted Madonna's first-ever UK show in 1983 and the launch of her 2005 album, Confessions on a Dance Floor.

Interview Details

The programme will be broadcast later this month, ahead of the release of Madonna's highly anticipated new album, Confessions II, which serves as a sequel to the 2005 release. Norton, a self-confessed lifelong fan, expressed his excitement: "As a lifelong fan it is always a thrill to interview Madonna, but to meet her on the dance floor where she first performed in London over 30 years ago felt incredibly special. She remains a legendary pop icon who is still doing what she does best – getting people up to dance."

What to Expect

The interview features Madonna looking back on her early days in New York, discussing her enduring relationship with the UK, and reflecting on her most recent performance at the US festival Coachella. Special guests, including her long-time collaborator Stuart Price, will also be involved, offering insights into Madonna's new album and the stories, inspiration, and creative process behind it.

Jonathan Rothery, head of BBC Popular Music TV, commented on the significance of the programme: "Some commissioning decisions take a while to ponder, and some are a no-brainer. The opportunity for us to look in on an in-depth conversation between Madonna and Graham is definitely the latter. Madonna is such an inimitable artist and Graham a master of the art of chat. We are delighted to be working alongside So Television to bring this world exclusive interview to audiences on BBC One."

About Confessions II

Confessions II is Madonna's 15th studio album and will be released on July 3. It is accompanied by a star-studded visual film featuring pop singer Sabrina Carpenter, actor Benedict Cumberbatch, and supermodel Kate Moss. This album marks her first studio release in almost seven years, following Madame X in 2019. The original Confessions on a Dance Floor is renowned for its nightclub music and hits such as Sorry and Hung Up, and is considered one of her best albums alongside Like a Prayer and Ray of Light.

Madonna launched her career in the 1980s and has achieved global success with 13 UK number one singles and 12 number one albums. She has also won numerous accolades, including seven Grammys and two Brit Awards.
