Strictly Come Dancing professional Kai Widdrington has spoken exclusively about his newfound contentment and intimate festive plans with his girlfriend, Chloe Wells, marking a significant step in their relationship.
A Cosy First Christmas Together
The 30-year-old dancer, who has just completed his fifth series on the hit BBC show, confirmed he will be spending Christmas Day alone with Chloe for the first time. The couple plan to celebrate in their London home, opting for a quiet and romantic day.
"I'm actually spending Christmas with my girlfriend, just us two, for the first time on our own away from our families," Kai told The Mirror. He described their plans as "very low key," involving cooking, perhaps too much wine, and a marathon of classic Christmas films.
Widdrington emphasised the importance of this quality time, stating, "We want to spend as much time together as we can and I'm a very busy person. For us, I think we'd love that time together."
Finding Balance and Happiness
The professional dancer did not shy away from attributing his current positive outlook to his romance with Wells. He revealed a profound sense of personal fulfilment since they began dating earlier this year.
"I've found happiness, I've found balance, I've found being content," he said. While acknowledging his enduring competitive drive, Kai believes this new stability is a "very healthy recipe for success."
He paid a heartfelt tribute to Chloe, adding, "I think 90% of the reason I feel the way I feel about myself is because of the person I had by my side. I owe a great deal to her." This marks a fresh chapter for Widdrington, who was previously in a relationship with his Strictly co-star, Nadiya Bychkova.
An Emotional Finale and Future Ambitions
Kai's interview comes as he prepares for the Strictly final on Saturday 20th December, which will be the last live show for legendary presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. He admitted the send-off will be emotional.
"It's sad, isn't it? I grew up watching... Claud and Tess. So for me, I'm a fan of the show," he shared. "It's gonna be sad, it's going to be emotional, but like anything, all good things must come to an end. They've earned their Saturday nights back."
While speculation about their replacements is rife, Widdrington said the professional dancers are leaving that decision to the producers. "We've been so busy with the show. It's none of our business. As long as we're back next year and we've secured our place, that's the main thing," he commented.
Regarding his own future on Strictly, Kai is keen to stay "for as long as I can," even joking about a potential future role as a judge. At 30, he notes he is the second-youngest pro on the current roster, stating, "I think I've got plenty of life left in me."
New Ventures on the Airwaves
Beyond the ballroom, Widdrington is embracing a new challenge this festive season. He is set to host two radio specials on Magic FM, encouraged by friend and former Strictly contestant Tyler West.
"It's always been on my radar ever since I came back to the UK and joined Strictly," Kai explained. "Hopefully this is the start of something new for me." Listeners can tune in to hear him on Magic Radio at 6pm on Sunday 21st December and again at 7pm on Thursday 24th December.
With a happy personal life, a secure spot on the nation's favourite dance show, and a budding radio career, Kai Widdrington is clearly stepping into 2026 with confidence and contentment.
