Disney+ has debuted a new six-part comedy this week featuring a major UK star, and viewers are already clamoring for a second season.

While the 2026 World Cup dominates television schedules, streaming services are offering plenty of exciting new series. On Monday, June 8, UK audiences were treated to a brand new series on Disney+: Alice and Steve, a British comedy-drama.

The official synopsis reads: "Alice and Steve is a British 'wrong-com' about friendship, family, love and revenge. Alice is devastated when her best friend Steve starts dating her daughter, Izzy. The relationship leaves Alice facing the possibility of losing two of the most important people in her life at once."

"So, Alice does what any calm, reasonable person would do: she tries everything she can to break them up. But Steve is not easily pushed aside."

"As Alice’s attempts to end the relationship escalate, Steve pushes back, and what began as a close friendship quickly becomes something much messier. Funny, uncomfortable, and emotionally complicated, Alice and Steve asks how far someone might go for love or revenge."

All six episodes were made available to stream this week, and the star-studded cast includes British television star Nicola Walker. She plays Alice, a mother whose life is upended when her best friend Steve begins dating her daughter Izzy.

Nicola Walker is best known for her roles in hit British dramas such as Spooks, Unforgotten, The Split, Last Tango in Halifax, and Annika. She stars alongside Jemaine Clement, known for his memorable roles in What We Do in the Shadows and Flight of the Conchords.

Viewers have taken to social media to praise the new series, with some hoping for a second season. On Reddit, user janegallagherskings2 wrote: "I just watched the first episode. Haven’t been this blissed out and happy with a show opener since Chad Powers and Ted Lasso."

User hot-statement2264 added: "Loved the show, hate it ended the way it did!! Hope they continue the story, it hasn’t been renewed yet!!" User nobsforgma penned: "I have always liked Nicola Walker. Never seen her in a comedy, though, so I will be watching for this."
