Peter Kay Reveals Cat Deeley's Sofa Secrets on This Morning
Peter Kay's This Morning chaos revealing sofa secrets

Comedian Peter Kay brought his signature brand of humour to ITV's This Morning, creating delightful chaos and leaving hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard in stitches. The 52-year-old from Bolton appeared on the show on Thursday 27 November to discuss his new autobiography, but it was his impromptu revelation of a behind-the-scenes secret that truly stole the show.

The Great Sofa Reveal

Before the formal interview could even begin, Kay hilariously interrupted proceedings to expose what Cat Deeley keeps hidden behind the pillow on her sofa. The comedian lifted the cushion to reveal a hairbrush and a vanity bag, items Cat uses for quick touch-ups during commercial breaks. The unexpected disclosure had Cat crying with laughter, setting a jovial tone for the entire segment.

Not content with just one revelation, Peter then turned his attention to co-host Ben Shephard, joking about what might be concealed under his cushion. Ben promptly lifted his cushion to show nothing was there, quipping that it was 'all me'.

Charity Tour and New Book

Beyond the sofa antics, the visit served a more serious purpose. Kay was on the programme to promote both his record-breaking Better Late Than Never tour and his new book, Diary: The Monthly Memoir of a Boy from Bolton, which was released in October.

He confirmed that his tour, which originally kicked off in 2022, is being extended into 2026 due to overwhelming public demand. In a remarkable philanthropic gesture, all profits from the tour are being donated to twelve different cancer charities.

The list of beneficiaries is comprehensive and includes:

  • Children with Cancer UK
  • Teenage Cancer Trust
  • Kidney Cancer UK
  • Blood Cancer UK
  • Bowel Cancer UK
  • Prostate Cancer UK
  • DKMS
  • Ovarian Cancer Action
  • Pancreatic Cancer UK
  • Anthony Nolan
  • The Brain Tumour Charity
  • Breast Cancer UK

Kay has already made entertainment history with this tour, becoming the first artist globally to hold a monthly residency at London's O2 Arena, where he has performed an incredible 45 shows.

Studio Showdown: This Morning vs The One Show

During his chat with Cat and Ben, Peter openly shared his preference for the This Morning studio environment. He revealed that he much preferred being on their show compared to The One Show, which he had appeared on the day before.

The comedian's new book offers a unique structure, framed as a twelve-month subscription to his life. He wrote: 'Think of this autobiography as a twelve-month subscription to my memories and meanderings across the calendar year. With each month reflecting a different phase of my life, complete with dodgy decisions, bizarre plot twists and more than a few laugh-out-loud moments.'

The interview also touched upon a more personal health struggle. Kay recently revealed in his book that he underwent emergency surgery for a giant kidney stone, which required a stent to be fitted after causing what he described as 'major trauma' to his urethra.
