Saturday Night Live UK made its return to screens with Chicken Shop Date's Amelia Dimoldenberg as host, featuring a sketch in which actors portrayed Oasis and Prime Minister Andy Burnham in a Russian phishing scam spoof.
The episode's opening sequence featured George Fouracres as Burnham, who strutted into No 10 North for a meeting with Housing Secretary Angela Rayner, portrayed by Celeste Dring.
Gallagher brothers enter the sketch
During their encounter, Ms Rayner informed the PM that some "local lads" were waiting to meet him, before Liam and Noel Gallagher, played by Freddie Meredith and Jack Shep, made their entrance into the room, reports the Daily Star.
Kitted out in the Gallagher brothers' trademark attire — Liam's khaki Parka and Noel's leather jacket — the two musicians swaggered in.
"Noel and Liam Gallagher, what are you lads doing here?" Mr Burnham said. "I am a huge fan of Oasis, and not just the good albums."
Manchester City dig and phishing scam reveal
The sketch subsequently took a dig at the Gallaghers' football club Manchester City, which was found guilty on virtually all counts of breaching Premier League financial rules.
Liam said: "We got a gift, tickets to our next gig at the Etihad, the home of Man City, assuming the stadium don't get repossessed before then. Only problem is we need someone to come and play guitar. You wouldn't know anyone like that, would ya?"
Mr Burnham declared that he knew how to play guitar and was welcomed into the band on the condition that he entered his details into a website. As he inputted his password, national insurance number and the name of his first pet, the lights dimmed and the Gallagher brothers transformed into Russian agents.
Burnham stands his ground
Swapping his Mancunian accent for a Russian one, Noel said: "You have fallen for classic Russian internet phishing scam. Oasis is and has always been Russian psyop."
The pair revealed that with the Prime Minister's passwords, the UK would become a Russian puppet state, but Mr Burnham boldly stood his ground.
He said: "For too long Russia has tried to spread lies, stoke fears and on occasion convince prime ministers they were joining Oasis. But I'm asking you now lads, pack it in. Just because you have the power to do something, doesn't mean you should."
"I for example could hold a general election tomorrow, and easily smash it. But as I announced yesterday I won't do. I could. Maybe I should? But I won't."
Saturday night's show also featured performances from musical guest, singer-songwriter Rachel Chinouriri. Saturday Night Live UK can be streamed on Now TV.
