In Belfast, Northern Ireland, houses were boarded up on a street after a night of violence following a knife attack on Monday. In Johannesburg, South Africa, members of a forensics team carried a body from the scene of a shooting at an informal settlement in Cleveland. Meanwhile, in Durban, South Africa, displaced foreign nationals took refuge in a park after fleeing their homes due to xenophobic attacks. Ghana, Mozambique, and Malawi are among countries that have repatriated hundreds of their nationals from South Africa this month.

In Buenos Aires, Argentina, fans of late football legend Diego Maradona stood outside the courthouse during a hearing in the trial over his death. In Cartagena, Colombia, supporters of Abelardo de la Espriella, a Trump loyalist and presidential candidate of the Salvadores de la Patria movement, attended a campaign rally before a runoff election on June 21.

In Washington, DC, ‘Marty the Moose’ received help from staff members from Senator Jeanne Shaheen’s office as he was moved to the Experience New Hampshire event on Capitol Hill. In Newport Beach, California, a surfer wiped out at The Wedge during a powerful south swell off the southern California coastline. In La Libertad, El Salvador, waves hit a boardwalk closed because of swell caused by the approaching Tropical Storm Cristina.

In Paris, France, a section of artist JR’s La Caverne was removed from the Pont-Neuf for repair after the installation was damaged during bad weather. In Le Mans, France, hypercars lined up before the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the oldest sports car endurance race in the world. In Berlin, Germany, two nurses took part in a decontamination simulation at Charite Virchow hospital, where a patient who caught Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo was recently discharged after successful treatment. In Saint-Jean d’Angely, France, the grandparents and other relatives of 11-year-old Lyhanna joined a march in her memory, calling for new child protection laws after the main suspect in her killing had been repeatedly accused of sexually abusing children but no action was taken.

In Chuhuiv, Ukraine, people cleaned up after an overnight Russian missile strike that killed three people, including a 22-year-old pregnant woman, and wounded several others.

In Gaza City, nursing students took part in a white coat ceremony marking their graduation, held in the ruins of the university college’s buildings. Women and children gathered to receive hot meals from a charity kitchen during severe shortages of basic aid. In Sidon, Lebanon, a displaced child carried a toddler as he walked outside the tents where his family now live, after Lebanese media reported two people were killed in an Israeli drone strike in the coastal city. In Busra al-Harir, Syria, four members of the al-Hariri family were laid to rest at a cemetery after being killed in Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon.

In Newfoundland, Canada, an iceberg floated near the shore at Mistaken Point ecological reserve. Large sections of ice break off from Baffin Island and Greenland every spring and drift down the stretch of water along the coast known as Iceberg Alley. In Havana, Cuba, a street overflowed with refuse as local authorities struggled to maintain basic sanitation schedules and a fuel blockade damaged the economy. In Papua New Guinea, a satellite image showed a volcanic plume rising over the vicinity of a submarine volcano in the Bismarck Sea.
