Comedian Dan Rath, who claims to have no social media, has shared his list of the 10 funniest things he has ever seen on the internet. Rath, who buys the Guardian from the newsagent, says he discovers trends through print media, albeit a bit later. He recently learned about twerking from reading the Economist.
Rath wishes technology had stopped in 1996, when it was good enough to play Mario Kart but not ruin your life. He only needs Microsoft Excel. Despite lacking social media, which some might think gives him mental clarity, Rath admits he ends up doomscrolling the opening hours for Harvey Norman.
His list comprises favourite things he watches on his TV through YouTube in the middle of the night. He tends to repetitively watch the same 10 things over and over. Among them are appearances by a certain comedian, a documentary called 'A Piece of Work', and clips featuring unique vernacular.
Rath describes one clip as super engaging, making you feel like you're in the room even though you're eating a curry on your belly. He will perform his award-winning show 'Tropical Depression' at the Monkey Barrel Cabaret Voltaire from 31 July to 24 August during the Edinburgh Fringe.
