Stephen Colbert has waded into the row over Donald Trump's border wall, joining Nancy Pelosi in mocking the president's manhood. The late-night host dedicated a monologue to Tuesday's Oval Office meeting, where Trump clashed with Democratic leaders over the looming government shutdown.
Colbert noted that Trump seemed to 'wake up' only when Pelosi mentioned a 'Trump Shutdown', comparing him to Amazon's Alexa. The president then declared he would 'take the blame' for any shutdown, a move Colbert described as 'offering to take all the blame for the thing you always blame the other side for'.
Pelosi later told colleagues that the border wall was 'like a manhood thing with him', adding that 'if you get into a tinkle contest with a skunk you get tinkle all over you'. Colbert seized on the remark, quipping: 'So the wall is a metaphor for his manhood? No wonder he's having trouble erecting it.'
The comedian's comments have drawn mixed reactions online, with some praising his humour and others accusing him of being too political. Colbert, a former host of The Colbert Report, has been a vocal critic of Trump since the 2016 election.
