The live-action Legend of Zelda movie has found its Ganondorf, with Australian actor Uli Latukefu taking on the iconic villain role. The film, directed by Wes Ball, is scheduled for release on April 30, 2027.
Surprising Casting Choice
According to Deadline, Latukefu, best known for playing a younger Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in the wrestling sitcom Young Rock, will portray Hyrule's greatest nemesis. The casting has been met with approval from fans, with one Reddit user writing: "Gosh he's perfect." Another added: "He's a good actor who also fits the part physically."
Ganondorf's Role in the Franchise
Ganondorf is a powerful warlock from the Gerudo Desert and the King of the Gerudo people. He has often sought to kidnap Princess Zelda to rule the world using the Triforce. The character has featured in five Zelda titles, most recently in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and has appeared in nine mainline games in his Ganon monster form.
Sam Neill's Final Appearance
Deadline also reports that the late Sam Neill, who died on July 13 at age 78, filmed scenes for the movie. His casting remains under wraps, but it is believed to be his final appearance. Additionally, Severance star Dichen Lachman and The Handmaid's Tale's Yvonne Strahovski will appear, with Strahovski portraying Zelda's bodyguard and advisor, Impa.
