Wicked: For Good does not feature any post-credit or end credit scenes, meaning audiences can leave as soon as the credits roll without missing any extra content. The record-breaking sequel to the 2024 hit has sparked speculation about a potential third film, but as of now, none has been confirmed.
Director Jon M Chu has hinted that “there’s a lot of ideas flying around right now” regarding a continuation, though he previously described the project as “always meant to be a two-movie experience”. Universal’s chief marketing officer Michael Moses told Vulture that talks are underway about expanding the franchise, stating: “Because of Wicked's success but also the fanship, we have almost a responsibility to figure out how we can continue in this universe. Have we figured it out yet? No. But there are things underway.”
While the film adapts the full story of the stage musical, author Gregory Maguire wrote three sequels to his original novel, including Son of a Witch. However, major changes in the films make a direct adaptation unlikely, meaning any third movie would probably be an original story.
Given the box office success, industry observers expect a return to Oz eventually, even without a credit scene to set it up.
