Parts of the film adaptation of Jojo Moyes' bestselling novel Me Before You were shot in Pembrokeshire, Wales. The romantic drama, starring Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin, spent around five days filming in Pembroke last May, using the town's streets and castle as backdrops.
Fans flocked to Pembroke for a chance to see the stars and author Jojo Moyes, who met admirers during the shoot. The town experienced road closures and an influx of visitors, but disruption was kept to a minimum. Main Street was transformed into a snowy winter scene for the film.
Harry Potter actor Matthew Lewis, who plays fitness-obsessed boyfriend Patrick, was among those filming in Pembroke. Scenes show him in tight gym gear alongside Louisa, played by Clarke, as they cycle through the town.
Pembrokeshire has a long history as a film location, dating back to 1956 when Fishguard was used for Moby Dick. Other notable productions include Under Milk Wood, Robin Hood, Snow White and the Huntsman, and Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows, which used Freshwater West for the Shell Cottage.
In Me Before You, Pembroke Castle appears in the trailer as the opening shot, where Will Traynor (Claflin) tells Louisa: "When I was a kid, this used to be my favourite place in the whole world." The film follows Will, a paralysed high-flyer, and Louisa, his companion, as they form an unlikely bond.
