UK cinemas to host K-Pop Demon Hunters sing-along events

UK cinemas will host special sing-along screenings of the Netflix hit 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' over the August bank holiday weekend. The animated film, which follows girl band Huntr/x as they protect fans from supernatural threats, has become the most popular animated film on the streaming platform since its June release.

The film's soundtrack has amassed over 3 billion global streams, with the song 'Golden' reaching number one on both the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK official singles chart. The official music video has been viewed more than 130 million times on YouTube.

Tickets are on sale for screenings across the UK on 23 and 24 August. Netflix has confirmed similar events will take place in the US and Canada on the same weekend.

Co-director Maggie Kang said she and Chris Appelhans wanted the music to 'really speak to K-pop fans and legitimately fit into the K-pop space'. The film's success contrasts with a lacklustre summer for Hollywood animation, where no fully animated film is expected to make the top ten.
