Tom Rhys Harries was barely recognisable as he sported a terrifying mask while filming the new DC film Clayface in Liverpool on Monday. The 32-year-old Welsh actor, best known for his role in White Lines, was dressed in a long coat and hoodie, his face obscured by the iconic Clayface mask.
Harries was seen exiting a car surrounded by a large crowd of fans as he arrived on set. The film, set in the same universe as 2022's The Batman starring Robert Pattinson, follows a promising actor who injects himself with a drug to reshape his face after a brutal disfigurement, only to discover it allows him to transform his entire body into malleable clay.
DC Studios co-chair Peter Safran has compared the script, drafted by Mike Flanagan, to the 1986 thriller The Fly. The film is directed by James Watkins, known for Speak No Evil and The Woman in Black. Harries stars alongside Max Minghella and Naomi Ackie.
Clayface is scheduled for general release on 11 September 2026. The character first appeared in Batman comics in 1940 and has been voiced by actors including Alan Tudyk and Ron Perlman in animated series.
