Tom Holland has hailed the Spider-Man scenes filmed in Glasgow as 'some of the best action' in the franchise, with the upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day set for release on 31 July.
The 29-year-old actor, best known for playing Peter Parker, performed stunts atop moving vehicles amid explosions in the city last summer. Director Destin Daniel Cretton described shooting the opening sequence as 'exhilarating' and said it was the first thing the team did.
Scottish fans gathered at barricades to watch the action, with Holland taking time to greet crowds between takes. Cretton noted the thousands of spectators served as 'a really lovely reminder how much this movie means to a lot of people'.
Glasgow was transformed into New York for filming, with US flags, yellow taxis and NYPD cars lining streets such as Bothwell Street, Wilson Street, St Vincent Street and Renfield Street. Recognisable local businesses, including Little Tuscany restaurant and The Drum and Monkey pub, appear in the trailer.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into UK cinemas on 31 July 2026.
