TikTok food legend Jacob Nelson, one half of the Spud Bros duo, declared a £7 cup of lemonade from Carly's Candy Creations the 'best ever' on the final day of The Hoppings in Newcastle. The drink, served in a 32oz cup, became the must-have beverage of the 2026 funfair, with videos of people enjoying it spreading across TikTok.
Viral Lemonade Takes Over The Hoppings
Each year, The Hoppings brings a standout food or drink item, and in 2026 it was the giant lemonade from Carly's Candy Creations. The freshly squeezed drink quickly became the sought-after refreshment as temperatures soared into the late 20s and early 30s Celsius on the Town Moor. The fair, known for its typical rain, saw unusually hot and dry weather, prompting visitors to seek cool drinks.
Jacob Nelson's Verdict
Jacob Nelson, whose Spud Bros trailer attracted huge queues throughout the event, visited the lemonade stall on Sunday, the last day of the fair. After filming himself trying the drink for social media, he gave it his seal of approval. "Oh yeah, that is refreshing that! What an absolute beauty of a drink on a day like this," he said, according to a Facebook post.
Spud Bros' Growing Popularity
Spud Bros made their debut at The Hoppings this year, weeks after some fans queued at 4am to be first in line for their first North East restaurant at a service station near Silverlink. The brothers have a huge following on social media, and their jacket potatoes were also a hit at the fair.
The Lemonade Craze
The £7 lemonade, served in large plastic cups, was described by customers as the best they had ever tasted. The drink's popularity was fueled by TikTok videos, with many fairgoers making it a priority to try before the stall closed.
