Fans of Quentin Tarantino have only days left to stream his acclaimed 2019 film Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood on Netflix, as it is set to leave the platform on 7 January. The period comedy-drama, written and directed by Tarantino, is a co-production between the United Kingdom, the United States and China.
The film features an all-star cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Al Pacino, Austin Butler, Dakota Fanning, Margaret Qualley, Emile Hirsch, Kurt Russell, and Timothy Olyphant. It also marks the final screen appearance of the late Luke Perry, released posthumously after his death.
The story follows actor Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), a 1950s TV Western star struggling to find work in a Hollywood he no longer recognises. He spends his time with stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt) and lives next door to filmmaker Roman Polanski and actress Sharon Tate — whose futures will be altered by the Manson Family.
Critics have hailed the film as one of Tarantino's best, with some calling it a 'masterpiece' and his finest work since Pulp Fiction. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds an 86 per cent approval rating. Commercially, it grossed over $377 million worldwide against a $90 million production budget, making it a box office success.
Audience reactions have been similarly positive, with viewers praising the soundtrack, cast, and nostalgic depiction of late 1960s Hollywood.
