Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly planning a trip to the UK in July for celebrations marking the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, but TalkTV host Kevin O'Sullivan has cast doubt on whether the Duchess of Sussex will actually appear.
O'Sullivan's Harsh Critique
During Thursday's edition of his TalkTV show, O'Sullivan shared his biting analysis amid rumours that Meghan would accompany Harry to the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The visit would mark the first time in four years that the Duke of Sussex, now residing in California, has returned to his homeland with his wife and children.
In conversation with royal correspondent Kinsey Schofield, O'Sullivan expressed his doubts. 'I think the stories are undoubtedly true that these plans are afoot,' he said. 'I'm just not convinced that when push comes to shove that Meghan will actually materialise. That she will actually come back to Britain.'
Meghan's Alleged Dislike of Britain
In a damning judgement, the host suggested that the duchess was not fond of the British public. 'She doesn't like Britain. I don't think she'll like the lack of popularity she doesn't enjoy here in Britain,' O'Sullivan continued, according to the Express.
Kinsey Schofield proposed that Meghan's potential return signalled a 'message of defeat,' but questioned whether the duchess would 'commit to this trip.'
Previous UK Visits
Harry and Meghan have made only one return journey to the UK with their children, in June 2022, for Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, though Archie and Lilibet remained out of the public eye. The Sussexes also returned for a string of charitable engagements and were present at Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in September that same year.
King Charles's Invitation
King Charles, 77, has reportedly extended an invitation to his younger son and family to stay at a royal estate during their possible UK trip. However, the offer has gone unanswered, and no arrangements for a meeting between Harry and his father have been confirmed.
