Actress Sydney Sweeney has given fans a tantalising glimpse behind the curtain of her latest film project, sharing a series of candid and dramatic snapshots from the set of the upcoming thriller The Housemaid.
Glimpses from a 'Hot Set'
The 28-year-old star posted the eye-catching portfolio to her Instagram on Friday. In one striking image, Sweeney is seen taking a break from filming, clad in a satin bustier and jeans, both spattered with what appears to be fake blood. She smiles at the camera while casually eating a sandwich accompanied by potato chips and pickles in a kitchen setting.
Another playful photo shows the actress posing seductively under a sign that reads 'Hot Set' – industry terminology indicating that filming is actively taking place in that area. The collection also featured her co-stars, including Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar.
Director Praises Sweeney's Confidence
The social media reveal coincided with comments from the film's director, Paul Feig, who spoke highly of Sweeney's self-assured attitude. The 63-year-old filmmaker, known for Bridesmaids, told The Times that Sweeney is 'very proud of how she looks' and embodies a healthy, body-positive mindset.
'She's very proud of how she looks, and you should be,' Feig stated. 'There are so many people I've encountered where you're fighting against their insecurity. She would say: "I love women's bodies," and that's so healthy.'
Navigating Intimate Scenes with Professionalism
Feig also addressed the filming of intimate scenes between Sweeney and her co-star Brandon Sklenar, confirming the actors had no issues with the required nudity. He admitted, however, that such scenes make him personally feel uncomfortable.
'There's nobody more uncomfortable with it [onscreen nudity] than this guy [me],' Feig confessed. He went on to praise the crucial role of the film's intimacy coordinator, calling their introduction 'the greatest thing that's happened in Hollywood'.
'When you have a 63-year-old man amongst all these beautiful young people, you don't want to be the pervy porn producer, telling people to do stuff,' he explained, highlighting the importance of the role in maintaining a professional and respectful environment.
Co-Star Amanda Seyfried Offers Support
Amanda Seyfried, who also stars in the film adaptation of Freida McFadden's 2022 novel, spoke to Vanity Fair about her co-star. She expressed admiration for how Sweeney is handling the intense pressures of sudden fame and success.
'I don't envy anything she's going through,' Seyfried said. 'I've spent a lot of time with her; we just hit it off immediately. She's a sweetheart. She's a very generous, kind person at her core.'
Seyfried reflected on the challenges of the spotlight, drawing a parallel to her Mean Girls co-star Lindsay Lohan: 'It's really, really, really harmful to people to have that kind of overnight spotlight... It's acrobatics that I don't think most people are capable of figuring out at that age.'
The behind-the-scenes photos and accompanying director insights have successfully heightened anticipation for The Housemaid, showcasing both the film's gritty aesthetic and its supportive, professional on-set culture.
