Street Style: 8 Fashionable People in Liverpool This Week

For this week's Street Style, the ECHO headed out in the heat to find some of the best dressed people in Liverpool city centre. We chatted to several fashionable people to see how they navigate dressing for hot weather, where they buy their clothes and who they turn to for style inspiration.

Megs Kathleen: 1970s Inspired

Megs Kathleen, 24, lives in the city centre, and described her style as early to mid 1970s fashion inspired. She bought most of her outfit from Vinted but her boots are from Pull&Bear and her hat is her partner's which she stole because it didn't fit him. She said: "My trousers are from Vinted and they were advertised as fancy dress ABBA flares but they're actually original 1970s flares and they were only £15." Naming Freddie Mercury as her style icon, she said: "Queen is my favourite band so I get a lot of fashion inspiration from early Queen."

Yvonne Swain: Comfort and Individuality

Yvonne Swain, 72, from Wallasey, was heading to The Municipal Hotel for afternoon tea with her friend. She said: "I've gone for comfort with my shoes which I got from John Lewis, I bought my dress from Nobody's Child and I got my necklace and bracelet in Sorrento last year." She accessorised with Mulberry sunglasses and a Radley bag. "I don't have a style icon because I just do my own thing," she added.

Jude Hatton-Holland: Urban and Easy Going

Jude Hatton-Holland, 24, from Childwall, said he's trying to dress as light as possible in the hot weather. He bought his whole outfit from Resurrection on Bold Street, but cropped the shirt himself and paired it with a Kangol flat cap and Onitsuka Tiger shoes. He said: "I'd describe my style as urban, easy going and light on a very hot day like it is today. I get fashion inspiration from skate magazines and from people I see on Instagram and on the street."

Lena Kuhnke and Lukas Schact: German Visitors

Lena Kuhnke, 22, and Lukas Schact, 21, are from Rostock in Germany and are visiting Liverpool for the first time. They were browsing Bold Street and said how impressed they were by the shops. Lukas bought his shirt in Germany, his jeans from Amazon and his Adidas trainers from Vinted. Lena also bought her Adidas trainers from Vinted and got her dress from a German brand. Lukas said: "My style icons are The Beatles because I love the suits and everything they wore. We are actually in Liverpool because of The Beatles."

Julie Dodd: A Chameleon

Julie Dodd, 63, from West Derby, described herself as "a bit of a chameleon" when it comes to fashion. She got her dress while on holiday in Benalmádena earlier this year, which she wore with TK Maxx sandals and a Primark bag. Julie said: "I'd describe my style as pretty relaxed and I'm trying to stay as cool as possible in this weather. I love to dress up and I love accessories."

Lizzie Hennessy: Wear What You Want

Lizzie Hennessy, 22, said she couldn't pin down her style to one particular look. She bought her top from Bershka and her trousers from Uniqlo, which she paired with Dr Martens shoes and a bag from sustainable fashion brand Wawwa. Lizzie said: "I mainly get style inspiration from Instagram and Pinterest but I just wear whatever clothes are calling to me on that day. My advice would be to just wear what you want and you can turn anything into a good outfit with accessories."

Carol Heath: Hit and Miss

Carol Heath, 70, from Oxton, said she'd describe her style as "hit and miss." She wore a Next skirt and a top she found in Nice, which she styled with M&S sunglasses, Dune heels and a bag she got in Malaga. Carol said: "I'd describe my style as relaxed and hit and miss because I throw things together. I do look on Instagram for outfit ideas but I've been around for a long time so I've got my own style."
