Steve Buscemi, the acclaimed actor known for his roles in Reservoir Dogs, Boardwalk Empire, and Fargo, has been cast in FX's upcoming Far Cry television series. He joins previously announced cast members Rob McElhenney and Lizzie Caplan.
Cast and Creative Team
Buscemi brings extensive experience working with the series' executive producer, Noah Hawley. The two previously collaborated on the FX series Fargo. Hawley also produced FX's Alien: Earth series, which debuted on Disney+ last year to positive reviews.
Rob McElhenney has prior experience with Ubisoft, having co-created and starred in the Apple TV series Mythic Quest.
Original Storyline
The Far Cry TV series will not be directly connected to any of the video games. Instead, it will feature an original story with all-new characters. According to Ubisoft, the show is described as an anthology series inspired by the world of Far Cry, with each season set in a new location featuring a new cast of characters.
Specific plot details and a release date have not yet been announced.
Game Series Status
The Far Cry video game series has been in a period of inactivity, with almost five years having passed since the release of Far Cry 6. That game was set on a Cuba-inspired island and featured Giancarlo Esposito as the main villain. Rumors suggest a new Far Cry game is in development at Ubisoft, with early leaks indicating an Alaskan setting and a unique 72-hour in-game time limit to complete the main story. Ubisoft has not officially announced a new title.
