Stephanie Davis has revealed she would welcome a return to Coronation Street, despite hoping her next acting job will be a departure from her previous roles.
Love for the cobbles
The 33-year-old, who played Courtney Vance on the ITV soap in 2023, praised the show's atmosphere. 'I absolutely love Coronation Street. Like, just down to the professionalism of the cast, the crew, everyone who is involved day to day, the people on the front desk, the cleaners. Everyone is just so amazing there.'
She told the Daily Star: 'The next project that I do, I want it to be a completely different type of character. I'd love to go back to Corrie but then I also watch EastEnders and Emmerdale and I think I may as well tick them off the list. People do [move round], you see it, don't you?'
Fateful casting
Davis, who has a 19-month-old son Samuel with ex-partner Joe McKalroy, previously explained how she landed the Corrie role shortly after deciding to return to work.
'It was fate, it's crazy. I took time out to be a mum to my little boy Caben. I told my partner that I needed to get back to work and do what I love again, I said I was gonna get a new agent, have a fresh start.'
'So I applied for a new agent and on that day I went to meet her. She said what do you wanna do, and I said I wanna do Corrie. I went home. It must have been two days later, my cousin was [talking] to me and I said I had this gut feeling, I wanna do Coronation Street.'
'As she was speaking the phone started ringing. It was my agent. I answered it and she said, "you're never gonna believe this. A part has just come up for Corrie and it's been written for you".'
Career highlights
Davis rose to fame in her late teens on Andrew Lloyd Webber's BBC talent show Over the Rainbow. Although she didn't win, she joined Hollyoaks months later, playing Sinead O'Connor from 2010 to 2019.
In 2018, she appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, where she began a relationship with Jeremy McConnell, with whom she has son Caben-Albi, nine. The couple split less than a year after leaving the house.
