Shona McGarty has confirmed her romance with former EastEnders co-star Tony Discipline by posting a TikTok video of the pair attempting an accent challenge. The actress, known for playing Whitney Dean on the BBC soap, shared the clip with the caption: "Accent challenge with my Man… @tony (God it feels so good to say that)."
TikTok Accent Challenge
In the video, Shona tried an American accent, saying: "Don't worry about the toaster, the toaster is yours." Tony responded with a Sopranos-inspired voice before they moved on to Irish accents. Tony admitted Shona had the advantage due to her Irish family roots. The pair then attempted Scottish and Australian accents, with Shona doing a Lorraine Kelly impression, leaving them both in hysterics.
Matching Tattoos and Romantic Getaway
The social media post follows a romantic holiday where the couple got matching tattoos to mark the trip. Pictures showed them sitting side by side in a tattoo studio receiving designs featuring a toaster with slices of bread, a pineapple, and a palm tree. Shona also commented on one of Tony's holiday posts with "Tú Y Yo" (You and Me) followed by a love heart emoji.
News of their romance first emerged after the pair were spotted enjoying a romantic dinner at Italian restaurant VyTA, where they held hands and shared kisses. A friend said: "They've been good friends for years. While there's always been an attraction there, they were always in relationships. But after they both found themselves single, things began to heat up. They are taking things slowly and really enjoying each other's company."
The couple were first photographed looking close at the Women's Football Awards last month.
Relationship History
Shona, 34, previously dated actor Matt Lapinskas, who played Tony's on-screen brother Anthony Moon. Tony, 37, was in a relationship with fellow EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa during his time on the show. Their characters Whitney Dean and Tyler Moon also had a brief romance on screen.
