Sebastian Stan has confirmed he will play the iconic villain Two-Face in Matt Reeves' upcoming sequel The Batman: Part II. The actor revealed the news while speaking to Deadline at the Cannes Film Festival, where he was promoting the Palme d'Or-winning drama Fjord.
Stan said he will travel to London “over summer” to begin work on the sequel, noting that he will play “many roles in this one”. In DC Comics, Harvey Dent is introduced as Gotham City's district attorney before an attack leaves half his face disfigured, leading to the emergence of the criminal alter ego Two-Face. Stan expressed excitement and nervousness, adding that the hair and makeup team have “devised how his disfigurement will look”.
The character has previously been portrayed on screen by Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever (1995) and Aaron Eckhart in The Dark Knight (2008). The first Batman film, released in March 2022, starred Robert Pattinson as a younger Bruce Wayne and received largely positive reviews, grossing $772 million worldwide.
Alongside Stan, the sequel will see the return of Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, Jayme Lawson as Mayor Bella Reál, and Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez. New cast members include Scarlett Johansson, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry, and Sebastian Koch. The film is now scheduled for release on 1 October 2027, having originally been set for 2026.
