Scottish Table Fetches £360 on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip

An Antiques Road Trip expert celebrated after a Scottish table's true worth was revealed on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, which aired on BBC One tonight at 22:45. The episode featured TV judges Keith Brymer Jones and Esme Young searching for remarkable pieces in Glasgow's antique establishments.

Expert Picks a Chinese Table for Auction

With assistance from BBC specialist Charles Hanson, Esme Young was drawn to a late 19th-century Chinese table. Charles recommended selecting it for the concluding auction, noting: "The reason I like it, it's a hard wood. And in some respects, the market of anything Chinese, Asian, has taken off." He added: "And it's just well-made. Look at the patination. It's got a lovely colour about it, quite hard to achieve in a hard wood."

Bidding Soars Beyond Expectations

The duo secured the table for £150. While Charles harboured optimism, the item fetched significantly more than anticipated. During the auction, bidding commenced at £100 before climbing steadily, prompting Charles to exclaim: "Ching ching" and "Come on baby!" The amount soared well beyond their investment, reaching an impressive final sum of £360. Fellow specialist Roo Irvine audibly gasped and observed: "That's phenomenal. It is deserving of that."

Reactions and Outcome

Charles shook Esme's hand, saying "thanks partner," while she attributed the success to him, stating: "That's down to you." Keith applauded the duo, and when questioned by Roo about his feelings, he responded: "Lost for words. No I'm pleased for them." Esme playfully interjected: "I absolutely don't believe you're lost for words," prompting laughter all round. Antiques Road Trip is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
