In a dramatic new Coronation Street clip, Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) confesses to killing Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) in an emotional breakdown, revealing the truth to a stunned Todd (Gareth Pierce). The confession comes just days after Sarah was revealed as Theo's killer, a twist that shocked viewers as she was never among the original suspects.
Sarah's Guilt Overwhelms Her
Since the killer reveal, Sarah has been struggling with guilt, terrified she will be sent to prison if the truth emerges. In the exclusive clip shown on This Morning, Todd confronts her, insisting she knows more about Theo's murder than she is letting on. He pressures her to swear on the life of their deceased child, Billy, and overcome with emotion, Sarah breaks down in tears and admits she killed Theo, leaving Todd gobsmacked.
Theo was murdered in April after his reign of terror over Todd was exposed, sparking another whodunnit on the long-running ITV soap. The list of suspects included Todd, Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins), George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), Gary Windass (Mikey North), and Danielle Silverton (Natalie Anderson).
Flashback Reveals the Killing
A flashback showed that Sarah attacked Theo with a metal pole on top of scaffolding, sending him falling over the edge to the ground below. A panicked Sarah then called Gary, who helped her cover up the crime. This secret has been weighing on them for weeks.
Could Sarah Face Prison?
Addressing whether Sarah might face imprisonment, actor Tina O'Brien said: "Yeah, absolutely she could be going to prison this time. If she'd have called the police straight away and explained what happened, she would have been in a much better situation, because it was clearly not premeditated, it was a situation where she felt she had no other choice. But to cover it up, to actively cover something up, she knows that she crossed a line that she can't come back from."
Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
