Filming for The Batman Part II brought snowy scenes to Runcorn on Saturday evening, July 25, as the Silver Jubilee Bridge was transformed into Gotham City. The highly anticipated sequel has been shooting in Merseyside this week, with crews using multiple locations in the Liverpool City Region.
Fake Snow and Night Filming
Sections of the bridge and vehicles were covered in fake snow as filming continued into the night. Videos shared with the ECHO show an ambulance with flashing lights crossing the bridge, followed by a motorcyclist dressed in dark clothing, similar to Bruce Wayne's "Drifter" disguise from the first film.
It has not been confirmed whether crews will return for additional scenes.
Previous Filming in Liverpool
Earlier this month, the old entrance to the Birkenhead tunnel on Rendel Street was covered by large fencing, with official photography taking place on Tuesday, July 21. In May, various vehicles were spotted outside St George's Hall, including cars styled as Gotham Police cruisers and yellow US-style taxis. The Birkenhead tunnel was also used at night, with Robert Pattinson's stunt double seen on top of a moving car.
Sequel Details and Cast
The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, earned approximately £578m worldwide after its 2022 release. The sequel was originally scheduled for October 2027 but has been pushed back to 2028. Joining Pattinson will be Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson, alongside returning cast members Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell, and Paul Dano. Trade publications list Liverpool as a filming location for the DC Comics sequel.
